Nice Is Okay Today--a Friend Goes with Me to Aegis

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Dear Kathy and Suzy,
My friend Betsy and I visited Mom today, and when we came to the door (where someone was working on construction) Mom was in the cafeteria area and spotted us and greeted us really warmly, giving and receiving hugs and even being willing to sit down in the cafeteria--at "our" big table--and eat half of an enormous sandwich I brought.
When she explained why she wasn’t going to eat lunch with the rest of them, she didn't say it was because of the poison they put in the drinks but rather her B.M.s and her fear of leaking.
Because she was better than the staff reports about her on Sunday, I thought of calling you to suggest you come right over, but her obsession with her bowels made me less inclined to consider this a great day.
She seemed really tired--maybe from walking down the corridors and knocking on all those doors the night before.
She asked that I bring her pads because the supply she had under her sink was "for about four people."  (She's right on the quantity but not the number of people who were really going to use them!)  She also said that she wanted Teena toilet paper.  I told Rocsana, the really nice med tech, who said she'd also mentioned this to her.
"Teena, but not spelled the way my daughter's name is."
Instead of talking the way she did on Saturday about our visits being held against her because of all the jealousy, she wanted to know who was coming each day and said she liked it when people came every day but just one per day.  I told her I'd be sure that it was spread out.
Is Nan going to give it another try tomorrow?  I'll be there on Thursday!

     Love,
     Tina

PS  I told Mimi, today's concierge, that we still needed the dining room for Mother's Day but not for Easter.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
