Here's something new (at least to me) at Yerba Buena Gardens, where our May meeting of the SFVS Book Club took place.  Trying to find our group, I went deeper into the garden than I'd ever gone before and found still more beauty! But I started with what you see first.

 

There was a strange full-page spread on Memorial Day in the SF Chronicle, but it was as if the person assigned to cover the Presidio ceremony hadn't shown up in time or had something they had to get on to and left before it began. https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/memorial-day-ceremony-22275809.php

 A reader got the impression that none of those running for US Congress had shown up and wrote a letter to the editor saying he wouldn't vote for them.  I got up from the recliner the morning I read there to set the record straight (even though I assumed someone else would have already done so). Here's what I wrote:

I was startled to see Frank Sullivan's letter to the editor saying that Connie Chan, Saikat Chakrabarti, and Scott Wiener had lost his vote because they weren't at the Memorial Day service at the Presidio.  I'm not sure that's the greatest criterion for who will best represent us or who cares about military deaths, but I was there and saw both Connie Chan and Scott Wiener.
