Triona

Our road trip ended abruptly on Sunday night, when Javier, who'd left behind his iPhone because his shirt had only one pocket, got a message form his daughter that her husband had taken a turn for the worse.  Javier was flying back.  Then I was.  We flew back together, and even though I'm sorry about the reason, I was a little bit relieved to be where I could more easily communicate with two close friends who are really ill.

The highlight of the trip was being with Katherine and Barry in their beautiful enchanted-forest house at Oak Creek Canyon outside of Sedona.  But I hadn't even thought of the fact that they, who have so often invited us to visit, were on our route.  I was taking this trip mostly because Javier was so enthusiastic about it.   Once I realized that I would get to see Katherine and Barry, I was really excited.  The others went in to Sedona while Katherine and I talked about things I won't post here.

Today I got a lot of thank you notes in the mail, and I was really aware of why I like to write thank you notes (even those without photos).  It gives me the chance to reflect on what I appreciate, so it's a way of experiencing it all again.  I knew there had to be a selfish motive!

I sent Katherine a distorted map showing how Triona in Oak Creek Canyon out-scaled, out-sized, out-did all other places on our route.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
