Daddy Continued, Father's Day Extended
I'm back from Fremont, where Javier and I celebrated Evelyn and Walter's 47th wedding anniversary and Walter's 70th birthday. The subject of Father's Day came up, and she told me that one of her son's thought she was being passive-aggressive when she tried to find excuses for his not calling his father on Father's Day or on his birthday. I told Evelyn that I thought it was strange that when we get our feelings hurt and let people know, they try to make us the heavy for letting them know. I told her about an incident with one of my sisters, who thought my retrieving the card I gave her from the table could be interpreted as a guilt trip. Heaven forbid! "I don't want to be passive-aggressive," I told her. "I want to be aggressive-aggressive." And that's the way I was as I aggressively attacked the surveillance the rest of them thought was necessary to protect us. Daddy's daughter. Aggressive-aggressive, in your honor, Daddy.
