What I Did Today Instead of Seeing "Gone Girl"

I washed my atrium plants.  That's going beyond watering them.  They were covered with dust from the floor refinishing--all that sanding.  So I took them all outdoors and (trying to use water wisely--scrubbing before squirting) washed off the sand from the floor as well as some aphids.  It was a hot day, so everything--saucers, pots, the leaves and sometimes even the flowers themselves--dried quickly. And I did other things, but not when I might have been seeing "Gone Girl."  I was really interested in seeing that movie because I don't want to have to read the book, and I've heard it has some interesting things to say about marriage.  I've also heard that the last 20 minutes are a big let-down.  (Mick La Salle said so.)

Friday, October 3, 2014  Up before midnight.  Saw Nancy Miranda's response to the torching/where we ate and responded.  Responded to Jenny's response to my comments about New York 2003 and her mom.  Also asked if she'd read Ex Libris (correcting English) and asked for her address. Wished Tommy good luck on his CPA exam at 8:00 am.  Jamie a happy birthday on Facebook. Jeanne suggested I text Luz, whose cell phone is delivering a "no service" message.  Finances: xxxx Looked up Jeanne d'Arc, the person.  Back to bed after 1:30.  Up again at 5:15.  Read "Sous le choc" about Valerie Trieweiler's book about Francois Hollande, "Merci pour ce moment."  "US Muslim sues government for malicious prosecution  (Irfan Khan 319 days in solitary confinement)  "Ambush suspect 'stressed,' making errors, police say."  Thomas Thevenoud quitte la commission.   "Former foster kids seek to save lifeline/vital program supporting ss runs out f money" by Nanette Asimov.  "Hundreds gather for 50th anniversary of the free speech movement.  "Family wants Jahi McMath to be declared 'alive again.'"  The Chroncle continues to try to get subscribers reading online.  Chronicle with C--corks, 49ers, ?  "Soul of the Banquet" about founder of Mardarin Restaurant.  "SFState:  On Strike"  (Ours was the longest student strike in U.S. history, resulting in 1st ethnic studies program.  "Murder verdict in loud-music killing" Michael Dunn, Florida.  Jon Carrol on Amazon.   Mick La Salle's review of Gone Girl.  "Hijab at Albercrombine"  disparate impact.  More Marginalia (less interesting to me now).  Finished Manfred's Survival in Paradise.  Cleaned the area by fireplace!  Luz returned texting at 8:45.  Can come Tuesday, October 7.  Sent Janet Fowler invitation for walk through + Randi Slaughter's telephone number.  Sent Dana a picture of the earring corkboard for her advice.    Finally dusted and sorted through the big glass container of matches from restaurants going back at least 20 years--Ernie's, Madonna Inn, Vanessi's...composted matches from Payless!  Sent 'Ana Taufe'ulungaki a birthday greeting for Solo.  Really wanted to see "Gone Girl" but didn't.  Went through closet.  Found something for tonight.    Instead of going to see "Gone Girl" on West Portal at noon, I took all the plants out to the back yard and washed them.  Left the Peace dove sign out there too.  Moved all back.  Washed my hair   Wrote to Manfred.   Started copying some of the text messages--photographing the screen the way Efren taught me to.  Got a lot of the SF distinction articles together (for a placemat).  Listed October birthdays, etc.  Then Bob and Victor came by for me (and to see the new wall unit and refinished floors).  We picked up Mo-Shuet and Bob bravely drove us through rush hour traffic to Jeanne d'Arc--wonderfully atmospheric--their treat for my retirement.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
