Kathy, Mom’s partner of 40+ years, wrote this tribute to Mom.

November 12, 2011

For Nadine:

What can I say after all these years?  We sat in the sun, drank wine, wore purple, went just about anywhere & everywhere we wanted & we weathered the storms.  And I do know I’m a better person for having known & loved you.  You taught me t be generous and to take care of people.  Thanks for the memories.  I think it can be summed up in two of your favorite songs.

You’re the cream in my coffee,
You’re the salt I my stew.
You will always be my necessity.
I am lost without you.

You’re the starch in my collar.
You’re the lace in my shoe.
You will always be my necessity.
I am lost without you.

And

I’ll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through.
            In that small café.
            The park across the way.
The children’s carousel,
The chestnut trees, the wishing well.

I’ll be seeing you in every lovely summer’s day.
In everything that’s light & gay.
I’ll always think of you that way.
I’ll find you in the morning sun
And when the nigh is new,
I’ll be looking at the moon
(and the clouds*) and I’ll be seeing YOU.”

Love,
            Kathy

*Mother loved beautiful cloud formations and rhapsodized about them, teaching us to appreciate them too.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
