Tea in Her Pocket and Communication from Staff

Friday, July 29, 2011

Called Mom around 6:45 p.m. and she said she had had a terrible thought when I didn’t come today…that I hadn’t made it through traffic because of an accident.
“I did get to have tea in my pocketbook,” she said.
She said there was news on TV—a real good projection of it, so she’d go watch that now.

I think I contacted the staff about Mom’s being bathed by a man against her wishes and about the delay in getting her a roommate who wouldn’t keep verbally attacking her.

Dear Ms. Chahal-Singh,

I really appreciate your call yesterday.  It’s nice to know that when I try to communicate with the Aegis staff, I get a response and people show they care.  So far I have a very positive feeling about the people who work there.
I talked to my mom by phone yesterday around 6:45 p.m., and she seemed in a pretty good emotional state.  She said she was worried when I didn’t come because she feared I’d been in a traffic accident.  (I was working on something for my sister in Chicago, who had a serious accident when she fell down the stairs and hit her head.)  I told my mother I’d visit tomorrow, which is now today.  I plan to be there around 2 or 3, depending upon when a 50th wedding anniversary luncheon ends.
My mother also told me that she was about to watch a news show.  She really wants to keep her mind engaged.  She’s always had a very strong civic mindedness.
I’ll stop by to meet you, as you suggested, when my visits come earlier in the day, as they usually do.  I hope you’ll also feel free to e-mail me when something comes to your attention. Thanks again for your call.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
