Just back from David's birthday lunch at Suzy's, where he said several things that didn't make much sense except as illustrations for dementia. But he was in pretty good spirits.
I got there in time to ride with Suzy to pick David up, and since there was no parking place, Suzy was able to double park while I went in for him.

We all ate pureed food--nothing solid--except for Suzy who (after throwing away the remains of my soup) sneaked a sauerkraut on bun into her mouth in the kitchen. But this was her actual birthday--the one Kathy and I celebrated with her on November 17--joint birthday celebrations, and she was hosting us, so I figure she didn't have to ask me whether I wanted anything solid to eat while she was having hers.
David was more interested in chewing on the red felt pen than in painting the Christmas stocking Suzy had gotten from him, but he liked our cards. Mine showed him at Easter in bunny ears and last Christmas in a Santa hat and beard. Suzy's showed Snoopy and Happy! Happy! Happy! several dozens of times, all of which David read. He really didn't show much interest in his presents, so we didn't even finish giving them to him. We put them in a bag for Christmas Day. Tammy joined us for ice cream, which substituted for cake (a solid). We stuck a birthday candle in his.
