Lost Keys, Found Love

I had so much I wanted and needed to do that I hesitated to go to Office Depot for the binders I needed--and the pens that aren't red--but I went anyway.  How long could it take?

When I got to Serramonte, I saw that Office Depot and Circuit City were closed off.  "Stores Closed."  I parked in another area and went back to look.  Their sign said to try their new location at Junipero Serra and Colma, so I went to Target to return the storage jars I'd kept in the trunk for a couple of months.  I also got a big calendar for Javier.  Then I sought out the Office Depot at Serramonte and Colma and even found it eventually.

After getting the binders and more I headed back home but remember that I needed bananas and avocadoes, so I headed to West Portal Produce, and on the way an obnoxious driver in a blue truck made it clear that I was driving too slowly for his taste.

(to the tune of "Feeling Groovy")

Speed up.  You move to slow.
The light has changed.  It's time to go.
Out of the way, pedestrian.  Foot on the gas!
I'm feeling speedy.

I've been making an effort to drive more slowly lately.

He passed me and revved up his motor.  Later he was coming out of a parking space, and I wanted to be sure he saw me because he was continuing to back up close to me, so I honked hard, and he gave me the finger.  At least he didn't crash into me or get out his rifle.

Then I headed home.  But when I got all my packages unloaded from the trunk of the car, I couldn't find my house keys.  I called Jeanne and got her voice mail.  Then I called Javier, who said he'd be right over--from Fremont!

While I waited for him, I created a llittle office out of the stairway between the garage and the upstairs.  I corrected the students quiz on annotation--something we worked on in class, and only one or two did it well.  Then I started sorting through the papers for ESL 132, Intermediate speaking and listnening--my evaluations of their presentations, their peer evaluations, their self-evaluation, reports, etc.

It occurred to me once I'd set up my office that I could have driven to Fremont to get the keys so Javier wouldn't have had to come here, but once he'd arrived (My Hero!) and I told him that, he said, "But then I wouldn't get all the credit!"  We kissed and kissed and kissed, and then I said, "I didn't really lose my keys.  I was just trying to get you over here!"

We kissed again.  Javier's hands were too cold for some parts of my body, so he heated them over the electric burner on the stove.  Finally they were just the right temperature.

So even if I've lost my keys, I haven't misplaced love!

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
