Only in the past semester have I become conscious of the fact that pencil sharpeners have disappeared. I don't like the mechanical ones my students use. I'm too brutal; I break the lead. So I brought several pencils--the kind I've known all my life--and went in search of a pencil sharpener. I even called Buildings and Grounds. They had no idea. But Duplicating, bless their hearts, had one, and here it is.
In my lifetime I expect it to be in a museum of curiosities.
