Yesterday Jeanne and I took BART to see An Iliad at Berkeley Rep, and we actually talked quite a bit about my course in (I started to say vegetarianism!) environmental science, which encourages us to eat low on the food chain although Jeanne and I were focusing mostly on water. She grew up in a farming community where their water was delivered in a cistern, and all of the kids took baths once a week in the same water.
This sign says "95% of people want farm animals to be treated well. 99% of farm animals are not." Then it suggests a meatless Monday.
Some friends are taking me to Mountain Lake this morning, a birthday request I made a couple of weeks again when they asked me what I'd like to do. There was an article on Mountain Lake in yesterday's paper, so I'll be back later to give the link and to tell you what makes pigs so smart--two very important environmental issues!
