Mom's Messages from Daddy after Death
When I say "Mom's Messages from Daddy after Death," I'm talking about Daddy's death, after which Mom started receiving angry postcards from him. I told this story at lunch today, when Lauri, Janet, Karen and I were having lunch together in Santa Rosa, not far from Cotati, where Karen lives. I think we were on the subject of saving things and who was good at throwing things out. I told about the time Kathy got Mom's permission to get rid of old letters and stuff like that. Sweet Mom had kept angry postcards from Daddy, sent after she asked him for a separation in 1969. After his death in 1998 they started coming back through the mail. I suppose that someone found the postcards and put them in a mailbox thinking that they never made it into the mail, but it did give Mom (and the rest of us) an eery feeling.
