Stern Grove, Song, Signing, and Security

SsssSo!

I stood for the "Star Spangled Banner" when the San Francisco Symphony started to play it at Stern Grove last Sunday because I love this country, Stern Grove and the San Francisco Symphony.  But I noticed that Stern Grove had Security up front scouting the meadow instead of  ASL signers sharing the playful comments  the soprano, Measha Brueggergosman, was making between songs by Duparc & Baudelaire and George Gershwin. (She instructed us,  "Whether you came together or not, start making out with the person next to you" and  described the Stern Grove scene as "a drunken pile of euphoria" adding "I will be there.")  As I watched Security,  I couldn't help thinking that this country I love would be more secure if the Rest of the World had reason to love it as much as I do.  Closing Guantanamo Bay, stopping drone flights, refraining from attacking, invading, and occupying other countries...Those were some of the things that could make other countries feel more secure, thereby increasing our security--fewer "bombs bursting in air" proving "our flag was still there."  Then I read the back of Insight, citing a bad week for CCSF, threatened with loss of its accreditation,  and I thought that we would be more secure if we as a nation and state focused more on our educational institutions.

In the meantime, here's  lovely Judy Tsang, Program Manager and Jonathan's friend way back in school.
And here are Kathy, whose birthday we were celebrating,  and me holding up the program Judy helped put together.
Here's the link for other pictures of this Stern Grove outing.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
