Reflecting instead of Just Gathering Information

Last Thursday I grouped my ESL 132 Intermediate Speaking and Listening Students with a worksheet with a chart to fill out indicating their favorite types of music and giving examples of artis in Country, Rock, Jazz, show tunes, pop, and classical.

The filled out the chart but not by reflecting.  They simply Googled the different types on their Smartphones--something I could have done myself.  So I needed to explain that I wanted their ideas, not their information gathering from the Internet.


Anyway, this is what they found.  I left their spelling.
