Shehla's Wit on Ocean 8--Ocean 3!

The last day of June is Shehla's birthday, and she had the last (and very witty) word after she, Beth, and I had tea at the Samovar at Yerba Buena Gardens and saw Ocean's 8.

Here's what came with her thank you note to us:

I am so happy to let you know that the stars of Ocean's 3, the long running prequel to Ocean's 8, were recently sighted at Yerba Gardens!  Fans saw them at a food heist at the Samovar in honor of one of the 3 stars, Shehla.  The 3 ladies walked the concrete carpet to the Yerba Buena Gardens and had delicious tea and tidbits. Shehla was presented with lovely momentos to remember her birthday.  Beth and Tina then had a private showing of the movie Ocean's 8 at a very comfortable and cosy theater nearby and all 3 were seen smiling after they left the theater.  Shehla was overheard exclaiming how thrilled she was at everything that she had experienced that day and wanted to thank her lovely costars for a wonderful, memorable day!  Her fans recall similar group events throughout the past years and wish all three stars a lasting friendship!!

In Ocean's 8, fake gems are changed for the real, but Shehla says she decided to change the poster instead of gems.  Here's her "heist," the work of a TRUE GEM!  Shehla reminds us that we Ocean's 3 have all taught at the Ocean Campus!

P.S.  I thought I'd have some fun of my own with the picture of the three of us below and decided to change the poster instead of gems!  Thank you for a lovely day, Beth and Tina.  The movie was fun and exciting and all that we wanted to see.  Samovar was very relaxing and the chia pudding was even more delicious then I remembered the last time we had it.  I hope Ocean's 3 BB celebrations continue with the same love and excitement each year!!

Lobbying in Sacramento for SB 100

Yesterday Kathie Piccagli and I joined Mothers Out Front in Sacramento for a day of lobbying for SB 100, 100% clean energy in California by 2045. I was impressed by the knowledge not only of our team leaders but by the people on the teams. We were also re-united with other members of Mothers Out Front and their children, and I met Amanda Senior and Lisa Wong, two kindred spirits. Can you guess what the V stands for? Eric Lipsitt got us there and back in his all-electric Bolt.

CARA: Visiting Our State Legislators with Our Message

CARA (California Alliance for Retired Americans) visited the offices of three legislators on Friday, June 8 and talked to state assembly member David Chiu, state senator Scott Wiener, and Phil Ting's staff member Alex Walker to advocate for seniors and people with disabilities.  We spoke in favor of SB 562 (getting it out for a hearing!), AB 3200 (raising SSI grants so that people receiving them will be up to the poverty level!!), and AB 2343 before it was gutted (giving tenants a few days longer to respond to eviction notices before they join the homeless on our streets).  We learned about some newly-proposed bills too--good ones!

A Ballot Party to Prepare for the Election

I went to Paul and Carol Kameny's Ballot Party Friday night, June 1st. They have this before each elections so we can do our patriotic duty and get informed and vote. We took turns reading the basic information about each measure, discussing it, and adding what we knew. I came home much better informed AND I had Lauri Fried-Lee's opinions too! We had good things to eat, and the cake and I had something in common!  Two civic-minded friends came with me and contributed what they'd gained from being part of the Coalition for San Francisco Neighborhoods.

I don't think this is the kind of community-provided bench the SF Chronicle was talking about today in its article https://www.sfchronic...
